Susan Anders
Nashville singer, songwriter and vocal coach Susan Anders has coached thousands of professional and budding singers in all contemporary vocal styles: rock, country, jazz, musical theater, R&B, and folk. Her technique is an effective, comprehensive method designed for the non-classical singer, tailored to work with your style of music. That means, for example, that if you sing gritty blues rock you will not come out of voice lessons sounding like a Broadway singer--or vice versa!

Jazz Vocal Warm Up, Singing Technique & Vocal Style Singing Lessons
A 3 CD set with almost four hours of material that teaches good singing technique as you sing a vocal warm up using eleven jazz standards. Then Singing With Style takes you to the next step and teaches you how to stylize all of those songs with ornaments, licks, scat singing, and more. All of the essentials of good voice technique are covered, followed by extensive vocal stylizing lessons.

Three CDs of eleven jazz standards played by a jazz trio (piano, bass and drums). The Vocal Warm Up Section includes the songs with vocals and instructional introductions. The Vocal Style Section includes the songs with more stylized vocals and instructional introductions. CD #3 has the same songs minus the vocals so singers can work "without the training wheels." These tracks without vocals can be used as a jazz vocal warm up, or for practicing different vocal style concepts.

In the Vocal Warm Up Section you'll learn about correct breathing and posture, how to warm up correctly, increase your range, improve your intonation (pitch), build control, build resonance, and improve your tone, volume and vocal endurance. Singers diction, the mix register, safe belting, articulation and vibrato development and control are also covered.

In the Vocal Style Section you'll learn phrasing, improvising, ornaments (licks and fills), pentatonic runs, scat singing, interpretation, melodic variation, vocal texture variations, and all the other vocal licks you've heard singers do but couldn't figure out. Though jazz songs are used to teach these elements, they are essential for all contemporary styles including pop, rock, R&B, country, and blues.
