Access To Music Artist Development Programme: Bands
The Bands programme aims to develop bands for professional work. It does this by helping participants to evolve their repertoire, establish regional and national fanbases, develop performance skills at local, regional and national performance opportunities, and create recordings with a view to securing music industry interest.
******************************************
Access to Music: Contemporary Popular Music The Contemporary Popular Music programmes are designed by music industry professionals to meet the needs of 'conventional' popular music musicians. This means that you will need to play an instrument* or be a vocalist.
One of the unique elements is that you will receive free group tuition on your instrument*, an aspect not usually found on programmes of this type. On the first year of the Stage 2 programme you will also have the chance to study a second instrument*.
Another unique aspect is that you will be encouraged to play or sing in a band, which you will form with other learners on the programme. You will take part in weekly rehearsals and play gigs at local, regional and perhaps even national venues.
You will also be given the opportunity to be included on a compilation CD of ATM Artists & Bands, an annual release which is distributed to the music industry throughout the UK.
The programmes are all assessed via course work and you will study towards a nationally recognised qualification. These are the National Open College Network qualifications in Popular Music Practice.
The programmes are all funded by the Learning & Skills Council which means that tuition is either free or subsidised
