There are music groups for children located throughout the UK, some schools and private teachers that specialise in teaching young children are already listed in our 'Singing Teachers Directory'. These can be privately organised or may be run on behalf of local nurseries, schools or councils, so parents are advised to grab a local paper or speak to the education department of your local authority for a list of registered/recommended music groups, visit the main library which should have a Register of Professional Private Music Teachers and it's always worth contacting the following organisations for a list of qualified teachers in your area.

Blueberry Playsongs Music Groups
Classes for children aged 9 months to 4 years, designed to be social, stimulating and educational. Groups available in Clapham, Putney, Chelsea, Richmond, Notting Hill, Barnes and Wimbledon. Includes guitar accompanied traditional nursery rhymes, action songs, games, instruments and dancing.

Various music classes available for pre-schoolers to primary including Chamber music groups that take children in P5 and above who are secure enough musically and instrumentally to be able to play his/her own part while other members of the group play different parts.

Rucksack Music
These 'Drop in' groups are aimed at allowing parents and carers to enjoy singing and bashing instruments with their children. Groups are available in Southgate, North Finchley, Hemel Hempstead, Crouch End, Penge, Anerley and West Norwood. Rucksack Music is meant to be fun. It is not meant as a serious music lesson and the emphasis is on enjoyment; socialising (especially for new babies and mums).
St. Andrews University Music Centre: Childrens Music Groups
Music Centre, Younger Hall, North Street, St. Andrews, Fife. KY16 9YD. Various music groups and activities are open to all, but some are specifically geared towards the younger performer like the Children's Choir and Younger String Orchestra. Registered music users can benefit from free use of practice facilities and pianos, free loan of instruments, free and reduced admission to concerts and events, discount on sheet music and instruments, use of the music library and instrument lockers.
